Rakesh Palisetty is a New York based director for Theater and Film. Prior to moving to the US from New Delhi, his productions toured extensively across India, including his hit theatrical adaptation of Twelve Angry Men, which has garnered a cult following. He was also the writer and executive producer on a feature film called Bumboo.
His eclectic portfolio of work draws heavily from postmodernist thoughts and ideas, representing his unique point of view having grown up in a diverse socioeconomic and culturally diverse city such as New Delhi. He creates work from a very personal place deriving from his varied lived experiences.
His interrogations explore deeply personal issues of death, faith, and relationship dynamics, with beautiful, striking imagery combined with soul searching examinations of the human condition. His work exemplifies a contemporary and experimental approach, incorporating irreverent humor, layered narratives, and the use of multimedia.
He believes in creating rooms that are safe and supported - but not necessarily comfortable, where hopefully people can mutually discover - despite the hardships of an increasingly polarized world - that elusive thing called joy, both in the work and with each other.
